As Director of Media Relations, Steve Hansen is responsible for the organization’s media and public affairs outreach as part of ITS America’s Campaign for Intelligent Transportation Solutions. In this role, Steve works to promote ITS America’s legislative and public policy agenda through media outreach, education, and events on Capitol Hill and around the nation.

 

Steve previously worked as the director of communications for the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) for six years (2001-07) and the U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources for eight years. While at the T&I Committee, he led the bipartisan media campaign during the last transportation authorization (SAFETEA-LU) which highlighted the immediate need for increased transportation investments throughout the United States, including dedicated funding for ITS deployment.

 

In addition to his work on Capitol Hill, Steve has been the Director of Public Relations for The Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, CA and was an award-winning journalist.

 

He graduated from Linfield College in McMinnville, OR with a dual major in Communications and History.
