Tour One | Chicago by Bike:
Explore Chicago’s bike system including the revolutionary Protected Bike Lane on Dearborn Street thru the heart of Chicago’s loop. Learn how the implementation of technological improvements such as dedicated bike signals and sensors has increased compliance with traffic laws. You’ll get a chance to ride one of Chicago’s brand new Divvy Bike Share bikes through the city, and learn how the Divvy system works. The guided tour will also include two demonstrations of bicycle focused, traffic control technology.
Tour Two | Chicago Riverwalk:The Chicago River is a treasured piece of the Chicago experience. On this tour, enjoy a view of the river from the best possible seat- on a boat. See how Chicago is revitalizing this iconic, but long neglected asset by opening up the Chicago River to residents and visitors alike. With the assistance of a Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) loan from US DOT, the City of Chicago is transforming the Chicago Riverwalk into a safe pedestrian corridor and a destination. This tour will include a boat ride and a guided walking tour.
Tour Three | Chicago Transit Authority Control Center:
The CTA control center is a central facility for real-time monitoring and management of its rail and bus service as well as security systems. Staff members are assigned around the clock to the systems, with the responsibility of tracking locations of buses and trains. Communication with operators and field supervisory forces are possible to resolve service and security related issues in real time. This tour will include a ride on the Chicago Transit system, the L, as well as a private tour inside of the Control Center.
