Creating Smart Paths for Connected Cities Webinar
Date: Thursday, February 26, 2015
Time: 10:30 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. EST
The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) will host a free webinar to inform stakeholders of its new Connected Cities Research Program. The webinar, entitled “Creating Smart Paths for Connected Cities,” is scheduled for February 26, 2015, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm EST.
“Connected cities”—where information networks connect city systems including transportation, utilities, and public services—have enormous potential to enhance the livability of our streets and quality of life for residents. Connected vehicle technologies, integrated sensors, big data analytics, cloud computing, mobile devices, social media, the smart grid, and the Internet of Things (IoT) are converging to transform the future of our cities, making them smarter and their citizens more connected than ever before. To help shape this future, the U.S. DOT Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office (ITS JPO) is launching a Connected Cities Research Program.
Purpose of Webinar:
What makes a city smart and connected? What innovations are connecting citizens to their transportation options and their cities overall? What role might connected vehicles play in a connected city? This webinar will address these and other critical questions as it introduces the ITS JPO’s Connected Cities Research Program and begins a dialogue with stakeholders about how we can best plan for connected cities’ future. The webinar follows the release of the ITS JPO white paper, The Smart/Connected City and Its Implications for Connected Transportation, which will provide a foundation for the discussion.
