Chris serves as a technical leader in ITS America’s Commercial Vehicle and Public Safety technical areas, such as information systems, data transfer, communications interoperability, and professional training of ITS systems and resources. He also lends his expertise to many of the society’s Forums and Councils as well as some of its tasks with the U.S. Department of Transportation.
 
Prior to joining ITS America, Chris worked for the North Carolina State Highway Patrol as a Telecommunications Equipment Technician. He has served as the lead on several Telecommunications projects for the State Highway Patrol, Motor Carrier division. Chris has extensive knowledge of the public safety mobile communications, through voice and/or data. His work included sitting in on the CVSA IT committee at bi-annual conferences and attending annual FMCSA IT workshops.
 
Chris was also a member of the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) for ten years. His specialties were Avionics Communications and Navigation. He was qualified on four of the Coast Guards aircrafts as a navigator, radar operator, and avionics man. Flights included SAR missions, drug interdiction and environmental missions throughout the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
 
Chris attended USCG Avionics “A” school in Elizabeth City, NC and Navy “B” school Advanced Electronics Course, in Memphis TN. He attended Delmar Junior College in Corpus Christi, TX for Associates degree in Electronics Engineering and attended Wake Technical College in Raleigh, NC for Associates degree in IT Technologies.
