Randell Iwasaki Elected Chairman of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America Board of Directors
WASHINGTON, DC, May 22, 2008 - The Intelligent Transportation
Society of America today announced that its Board of Directors
elected Randell Iwasaki as Chairman. Iwasaki has served as Vice
Chairman of ITS America's Board of Directors since June 2007. He
assumes his new role from Michael Doyle who has stepped down as
Chairman after a one-year term.
Iwasaki is the chief deputy director of the California
Department of Transportation (Caltrans). He manages the day-to-day
operations of the department, including an operating budget of
nearly $10 billion and more than 21,000 employees. From December
2004 until December 2005, he also managed the $8.6 billion Toll
Bridge Seismic Retrofit Program. A licensed civil engineer, Iwasaki
has been with Caltrans for more than 20 years, serving in a number
of high profile engineering and management positions.
Iwasaki earned his bachelor's degree in Engineering from
California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a
Master's in Engineering from California State University,
Fresno.
