ITS America Submits Comments to FCC

WASHINGTON, DC, July 9, 2008 - The Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America) this week submitted "Reply Comments" to the Federal Communications Commission's Second Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking regarding the proposed deployment of a nationwide, interoperable public safety network in the so-called "D Block"-the 758-763 megahertz (MHz) and 788-793 MHz bands-reflecting the consensus views of ITS America's Automotive, Telecommunications and Consumer Electronics Forum.

ITS America President and CEO Scott Belcher stressed, "The allocation of the 700 megahertz spectrum represents a major step toward the creation and implementation of a ubiquitous, next generation wireless communications network that ensures better public safety communications, and addresses the critical interoperability issues among public safety applications and providers…ITS America believes there is a commonality of interest between the deployment of a nationwide interoperable broadband service for public safety and the availability of communications infrastructure to help serve Intelligent Transportation Systems needs."
