Save the Date: ITS Congressional Roundtable with Chairman Oberstar and Washington Representatives Committee Kickoff Meeting Scheduled for September 15
WASHINGTON, DC, August 21, 2008 - House Transportation and
Infrastructure Committee Chairman James Oberstar (D-MN) will join
ITS America members for the next ITS Congressional Roundtable on
Monday, September 15 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Room 2253 of
the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill. The Roundtable
will include a sit-down lunch, followed by a discussion with the
Chairman about ITS and the next surface transportation
bill.
Immediately following the Congressional Roundtable will be a
kickoff meeting of ITS America's new "Washington Representatives
Committee." The meeting will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
on Monday, September 15 at a location to be determined. The
committee will serve as the center of ITS America's government
affairs advocacy and outreach activities, and will be comprised of
government affairs, policy, legal, and other staff of ITS America
members who are available to meet and participate on a regular
basis.

Committee:
The ITS America Washington Representatives Committee will meet
monthly, and will be responsible for:

Developing detailed legislative proposals for federal surface transportation authorization, sustainability, and other areas of importance to the ITS community under the policy direction of the ITS America Board's Reauthorization Task Force;

Performing targeted Congressional outreach and educational campaigns;

Participating in ITS Congressional Roundtable series, policy forums, and other events;

Supporting Congressional participation at the ITS World Congress in New York City on November 16-20, 2008, and during ITS America's Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. on June 1-3, 2009; and

Providing ITS America staff with recommendations and support regarding advocacy and educational materials.
