ITS America Publishes White Paper on "Delivering ITS Solutions through TIGER Discretionary Grants"

WASHINGTON, DC, July 2, 2009 - ITS America is pleased to provide you with the following white paper, "Delivering ITS Solutions through TIGER Discretionary Grants," which provides information to assist public agencies and private sector/nonprofit partners in applying for ITS-related economic recovery projects under the U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) "Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery" or "TIGER" Grant program.
As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, $1.5 billion in discretionary funding was provided to the U.S. DOT to be awarded for capital investments in surface transportation projects. The U.S. DOT published final guidance for the TIGER Grant program in the Federal Register on June 17, including details about funding availability, project selection criteria, application requirements, and the September 15, 2009 application deadline.
The TIGER Grant program provides a significant opportunity for public agencies and their private sector and nonprofit partners to invest in innovative transportation technologies and operational improvements that will create near- and long-term jobs and economic growth while providing long-term benefits to our transportation system, economic competitiveness, environment, and quality of life. We hope this white paper will guide you as you create a strong case for investing in ITS solutions, and we look forward to serving as a resource as you work to submit your TIGER Grant application.
