ITS America President and CEO Scott Belcher Commends Nomination of Michael Huerta as Deputy Administrator of the FAA
WASHINGTON, Dec. 8 - The Intelligent Transportation Society of
America (ITS America) President and CEO Scott Belcher today
commended President Obama's decision to nominate Michael P. Huerta
for the position of Deputy Administrator of the Federal Aviation
Administration.
Huerta is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for ITS
America and is the owner of a transportation policy, technology and
financing consulting firm.
"President Obama has made an excellent choice in nominating
Michael Huerta for Deputy Administrator of the FAA," Belcher
said. "Michael has an extremely impressive and diverse background
in transportation and his broad experience will be invaluable to
the future operations of the FAA. I have enjoyed working with
Michael and believe him to be among the top transportation experts
in the country."
Huerta served as a member of President Obama's transition team
for the U.S. Department of Transportation and served in senior
positions at DOT from 1993 to 1998.
He also served as Group President of the Transportation
Solutions Group of Affiliated Computer Services, Inc., a technology
service provider supporting transportation agencies worldwide. He
also served as a Managing Director with the Salt Lake Organizing
Committee for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.
Huerta has a master's degree from the Woodrow Wilson School of
Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and a
bachelor's degree from the University of
California-Riverside.
