ITS America Announces Call for Nominations for 2010 Board of Directors

ITS America Announces Call for Nominations for 2010 Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, Jan. 19 - The Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America) is seeking recommendations for members to serve on the ITS America Board of Directors. Nominations must be submitted with a brief biography or resume by February 19, 2010.
There are three board seats open for election to represent the public and private sectors on behalf of ITS America's membership. All three are for three-year terms. ITS America's Board of Directors consists of 19 members, each of whom is elected for staggered three-year terms. Additional, non-voting board members are ex-officio members and include the president of ITS America, the board's immediate past chair, and representatives from ITS America's colleague organizations such as the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, American Public Transportation Association, Institute of Transportation Engineers, and Transportation Research Board.
ITS America's Bylaws specify that "the composition of the elected members of the board of directors shall result in a board that represents the spectrum of current and emerging constituents in ITS America." Uniquely positioned compared to other professional societies and trade associations, ITS America's membership includes and broadly mirrors the natural partnership of public and private sector organizations, and within each, a dynamic mix of entities that represent the range of providers, users, and technologies at the center of intelligent transportation systems and services in the country.
The board of directors:
  • Ensures the successful implementation of ITS America's vision and mission.
  • Serves as a focal point to discuss, develop, and promote a national intelligent transportation systems agenda.
  • Sets overall organizational direction and provides programmatic and financial oversight in support of ITS America's strategic objectives.
The nominating committee will present nominations to the board of directors for its acceptance at its March 2010 meeting. The slate of nominees will be presented to the members for election by mail ballot in mid-March, with a closing date of April 16. The new board members will be announced on May 4, 2010 during ITS America's 20th Annual Meeting & Exposition in Houston, Texas.
Members of ITS America should make candidate nominations for the board of directors by February 19, 2010: Mr. Randy Iwasaki, Chairman, Nominating Committee, c/o Laura Rogers, Director of Membership Services, ITS America, 1100 17th Street, NW, Suite 1200, Washington, DC 20036-4639, Fax 202 484-3483, e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
