WASHINGTON, D.C. - During March, 14 new companies and organizations from around the country joined the Intelligent Transportation Society of America, the nation's leading voice for the use of smart technology to address transportation challenges. Our new members include the City of Portland, Cubic, DBI, E-ViEWS Safety Systems, Gettaround, Graybar Electric, HD Protech, LeddarTech, Mobile Traffic Network, Sendza, SQLstream, Telcordia, Traffic Safety Corporation, and Ver-Mac.
NEW MEMBERS
The City of
Portland, Oregon, has been a national leader in collaborating
with private sector companies to reduce traffic congestion, fuel
consumption, and CO2 emissions by using technology to optimize the
timing of traffic signals. The city was recognized with an ITS
America Smart City Award earlier this year for providing an
example to cities and communities across the country of how to
effectively deploy ITS technologies to address critical
transportation challenges.
Cubic Corporation is a leader
in Defense and Transportation, supplying innovative defense
products, systems and services to U.S. and allied governments in
more than 50 nations. Cubic Transportation Systems designs,
manufactures, and integrates automatic fare collection systems for
public transit projects throughout the world, specializing in
contactless smart cards; magnetic stripe cards; device software;
and transit hardware including gates, ticket machines and card
readers.
DeAngelo Brothers, Inc.
(DBI) provides a diversity of industrial and commercial
services for large transportation infrastructure maintenance
projects. The company, founded in 1978, offers roadside and parking
lot cleaning and maintenance, bridge and tunnel cleaning, GIS/GPS
mapping services and is a leader in providing complete road
management solutions throughout North America.
E-ViEWS Safety
Systems, Inc. is a developer of ITS applications for use in
emergency response. The company has pioneered the use of emergency
vehicle identification techniques to visually warn motorists and
pedestrians of approaching response vehicles at intersections.
E-ViEWS technology includes emergency traffic preemption, Automatic
Vehicle Location (AVL), secure communication networks, and more
intelligent operations software systems.
Gettaround, Inc. is a
car-sharing service that represents the latest model for personal
transportation that is affordable and environmentally friendly. The
service was created by graduate students and was intended to
leverage the best advances in smartphones, digital networking, and
location tracking. By joining Gettaround's online network and
downloading a smart phone application, users can find the rental
car they want, book it, and even unlock the door and start the
engine by phone.
Graybar Electric is
a supply chain management services company based in St. Louis,
Missouri. The company has more than 240 distribution centers
throughout the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico dedicated to
warehousing and distributing a variety of electrical and
communications and data products. Graybar has specialized in
managing and supplying equipment to the electrical and
telecommunications industries for over 80 years.
HD Protech, based
in Houston, is the producer of the Enhanced Vehicle Safety System
(EVSS®) and the Centralized Management Safety System
(CMSS®). Both systems use web based technology to enhance
safety and security, and the company's EVSS® includes safety
features like driver panic alert and real time video access.
LeddarTech is
a technology company specializing in automobile sensing solutions
based on LED lighting. The company, based in Quebec, Canada,
produces object detection technologies for cars that allow for
360° sensing, enabling drivers to avoid collisions and also
helping local and state transportation agencies to improve traffic
flow.
Mobile
Traffic Network, Inc. is launching several mobile phone alert
services for cell phone users. A wholly owned subsidiary of Global
Traffic Network, the first service that MTN will launch is an
innovative mobile traffic information service providing traffic
incident notifications directly to a driver's mobile phone,
allowing drivers to pick a less congested route.
Sendza, Inc. is a
comprehensive new media messaging service that automates text,
voice, email, and social network messaging. Sendza has teamed with
fellow ITS America member and industry traffic data leader INRIX to
create a variety of traffic services for state agencies. At no cost
to taxpayers, state DOTs can use the services to provide traffic
safety alerts and congestion updates to drivers state-wide in real
time.
SQLstream,
Inc. SQLstream delivers streaming analytics in real-time,
enabling decisions when really urgent analytics are required. A
leader in Stream Computing, SQLstream uses industry standard SQL to
execute queries on live, incoming data. By combining real-time
streaming analytics with low cost mobile resource management
technology, SQLstream can significantly reduce the cost of
intelligent transportation solutions.
Telcordia is a leading
global provider of fixed, mobile, and broadband communications
software and services. For 25 years, the company provided
innovative solutions to help organizations deploy advanced networks
and groundbreaking communications services. Headquartered in New
Jersey, Telcordia has more than 50 offices worldwide that serve
over 800 customers in 55 countries.
Traffic Safety Corporation, a
company based in California that develops crosswalk safety systems,
offers a number of safe crosswalk solutions, including in-roadway
warning lighting systems that can be activated by pedestrians
preparing to cross a busy street or intersection. City officials as
well as business and neighborhood developers from across the
country have used Traffic Safety Corporation products to make their
roads and crosswalks safer for pedestrians.
Ver-Mac, Inc. is a
manufacturer of electronic traffic and control equipment,
headquartered in Québec, Canada. The company brings
intelligence to work zones by providing real-time traffic
management solutions with its unique software, JamLogic. Ver-Mac
was the first company in Canada to produce vehicle-mounted
electronic arrow boards in the early 1980s and has been a leader in
work zone safety ever since.
