External Affairs Manager
Callie Hoyt is the manager of external affairs at the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America), the nation’s largest organization dedicated to advancing research, development, and deployment of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) that improve surface transportation networks throughout the U.S. In this role, Callie supports the organization’s communications, marketing and legislative outreach activities.
Callie joined ITS America from the Alliance for Driver Safety and Security (or the “Trucking Alliance”), a Washington, D.C. based coalition of influential freight transportation and logistics firms. As manager of government affairs, she coordinated stakeholder coalition building, and developed and implemented public relations efforts and federal advocacy strategies to advance policy initiatives to improve highway safety and productivity within the trucking industry.
Before joining the Trucking Alliance, Callie developed expertise in transportation policy and public relations as the safety and policy coordinator at the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA), the only national trade association whose sole focus is the truckload segment of the motor carrier industry. There she interpreted and communicated all industry-related legislative and regulatory developments, and increased the profile of TCA policies among industry stakeholders and federal legislators and regulators through advocacy and communications efforts.
Prior to her position at TCA, Callie interned in the U.S. House of Representatives for Congresswoman Cynthia Lummis (WY-00) and Congressman John Mica (FL-07). In these roles, Callie gained experience in both Washington, D.C. and district congressional offices where she developed an aptitude for policy analysis and the legislative process.
Callie has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a minor in Art History from George Mason University, where she played Division I Women’s Lacrosse.
