ITS America Announces Call For Participation for 23rd Annual Meeting & Exposition in Nashville

WASHINGTON, DC – The Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America) is accepting proposals for papers and presentations for consideration for its 23rd Annual Meeting & Exposition. The three-day event will be held from April 22-24, 2013 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

ITS America is looking for high quality contributions to the technical program of the 2013 Annual Meeting.   Content selected will further the discussion about state-of-the-art transportation technologies or offer a fresh outlook on the policy, financial, economic, or social implication of deploying transportation technologies.

The ITS America Annual Meeting Program Committee is proud to announce that it will again augment the traditional 'Call for Papers' approach with presentation-only submissions. This change allows those who have much to share with the membership-but may not have the time to devote to preparing a complete paper-the opportunity to share your knowledge with others at the conference.

This year’s theme “Real Progress — Great Future” will touch on how far we’ve come as a nation in the deployment of ITS technologies and will also illustrate just how much further we can go to create a connected, efficient, sustainable and safe transportation system. The goal for the 2013 program is to weave this theme throughout each session as it relates to each of five main topical areas: traffic management, safety, commercial vehicle and freight mobility, sustainable transportation and cross cutting issues.

Submissions selected will be because the topic discusses innovative technology, presents novel analysis of technical or policy issues, or proposes solutions to potential hurdles to deployment of technologies. ITS America is offering a flexible format for podium or poster participation in the technical program through one of the following options:

Paper Abstract Submission: As an added benefit to the 2013 annual meeting, ITS America is teaming with the Transportation Research Board (TRB) of the National Academy of Sciences to select papers that describe timely research topics and expand the body of knowledge. These papers will be published in a Transportation Research Record (TRR), a widely recognized peer reviewed publication. Candidate papers will be selected from the final papers submitted to the Annual Meeting and they will undergo a peer review process in coordination with TRB.

Presentation Abstract Submission: ITS America is again offering speaking opportunities that do not require a paper submission.  By choosing to submit a presentation abstract, presenters will not be required to submit a full paper for inclusion in the Annual Meeting Program Proceedings.

Town Halls:  New for the 2013 Annual Meeting, ITS America is introducing town hall sessions designed to explore topics in greater depth than allowed in a typical presentation session while also providing interactive opportunities for attendees. As part of these sessions, industry experts will field questions and solicit feedback on project issues, lessons learned, and the future of the ITS industry.  Members and interested parties can help shape these discussions by participating in the ITS America Forums, which will identify topics and craft these sessions. More information on ITS America Forums can be found at http://www.itsa.org/industryforums.

Paper and presentation abstracts can now be submitted online at http://itswc.confex.com/itswc/AM2013/cfp.cgi. The deadline for paper and presentation submissions is November 2, 2012.  For more information on ITS America’s 23rd Annual Meeting & Exposition and to download the Call for Participation brochure, visit www.itsa.org/annualmeeting
