The 18th World Congress will be held October 16 - 20, 2011, and promises to be the world's largest transportation gathering with 10,000 transportation industry leaders, political leaders, businesses and innovators meeting in Orlando, Florida to showcase new and next generation technologies designed to make transportation safer, more convenient, efficient, and sustainable.  The preliminary program is now available here.

Held once every three years in the United States, this event will feature the cutting-edge of transportation. Here are just a few of the highlights:

• An impressive list of confirmed speakers including Bill Ford, Executive Chairman of the Ford Motor Company; Tom Stephens, Vice Chairman and Global Chief Technology Officer of General Motors; and Ben Verwaayen, CEO of Alcatel-Lucent.

• A program of nearly 300 sessions, delivered by industry leaders, that genuinely reflect the huge contribution ITS makes to safer, productive and environmentally sensitive transportation.

• An Exhibition where over 200 companies will present products that will shape the future of transportation.

• Four dynamic and interactive Technology Showcases, each in its own pavilion, showcasing demonstrations on safety, mobility, sustainability and pricing.

• Incredible live demonstrations that show ITS in action!

• Special targeted days for incident management professionals and students.

• Countless networking opportunities and special events such as the first-ever ITS World Congress Golf Tournament at Disney’s Osprey Ridge golf course, ITS Florida’s Welcome Dinner at Sea World’s Discovery Cove, and the exclusive finale event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The timing could not be more critical. With gasoline prices soaring, roads and bridges deteriorating, shrinking budgets, and the surface transportation reauthorization bill moving through Congress, Americans are acutely aware of the problems facing our infrastructure. The cutting edge technologies on display in Orlando provide solutions to help agencies do more with less and to propel our transportation network into the modern age.

The event is hosted by ITS America, in collaboration with ERTICO-ITS Europe and ITS Asia Pacific.   Learn more at www.itsworldcongress.org!
