Transportation Safety Advancement Group Adds New Members
Washington DC: The Transportation Safety Advancement Group (TSAG) has elected Dr. Robert Gray, Cynthia Manley and Sregeant Philip Strohm to fill vacancies in its Academic & Research, Technology & Telematics, and Law Enforcement interest communities.
“By adding these members and utilizing their strengths and areas of expertise, the pursuit of the TSAG mission is greatly strengthened,” said TSAG Chair Dia Gainor, Chief of the Idaho EMS Bureau.
Dr. Robert Gray, joining Academic and Research, is an Associate Professor and Director at the Center for Navigation, Communication and Information Systems at, The Larson Transportation Institute, Pennsylvania State University. He brings more than 25 years of experience in the area of vehicle systems and safety, with experience in the design and testing of navigation and vision systems for aircraft, rail, automobile and water vessels.
Cynthia Manley is Senior Manager of Government and Safety Programs at, Cross Country Automotive Services and will join the Technology and Telematics community. She brings more than 12 years of experience in managing the implementation of services and technologies for telematics and business lines and has been instrumental in building the safety and security offerings that are core to Cross Country’s telematics services.
Sergeant Philip Strohm, joining Law Enforcement, is a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit Administrator for the Delaware State Police, HQ Traffic Section. There, he is responsible for the overall management of statewide commercial vehicle enforcement, including its Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP), and companion Truck Enforcement Unit (TEU). Sgt. Strohm brings extensive law enforcement experience in broad applications including police technology and management.
The Transportation Safety Advancement Group is an assembly of multi-discipline professionals sharing a common interest in transportation and public safety. TSAG is dedicated to enhancing traveler and first responder safety through advanced technologies and inter-discipline and inter-agency coordination. Members represent allied transportation and public safety communities including Academic & Research, Emergency Communications, Emergency Medical Services, Fire & Rescue, Emergency Management, Law Enforcement, Technology & Telematics, and Transportation Operations (www.tsag-its.org). TSAG serves as a broad forum for addressing technologies for public safety challenges and opportunities and from these, providing input and guidance to the US Deptartment of Transportation, ITS Joint Program Office. The ITS Joint Program Office serves as the principal guide on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) applications for transportation operations and management and on transportation safety technology policy.
TSAG is administered by the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America), a leading advocate for technologies that improve the safety, security and efficiency of our nation's surface transportation system.
