ROCKAWAY, NJ, September 6, 2012: Activu® Corporation, a leading provider of IP-based visualization and collaboration solutions for mission-critical command and control center environments, is pleased to announce that it successfully upgraded Georgia Department of Transportation’s (GDOT) Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) with state-of-the-art TMC video wall hardware and intelligent network-based visualization software.

For decades now, the State of Georgia has been leading the nation on advanced traffic management systems. As it prepared to host the centennial Olympic Games in 1996, GDOT developed remarkable intelligent transportation systems (ITS) infrastructure (NaviGAtor) to ensure the smooth flow of goods, athletes and visitors from across the world. In so doing, GDOT contributed significantly to the overall success of the Games in Atlanta, GA.

Since 1996, Georgia has seen considerable new businesses and population growth in the state with strong accompanying demand for residential and commercial development that has considerably increased traffic density and demands on its transportation infrastructure. In response, GDOT recently selected Activu to upgrade its ITS infrastructure and integrate its TMC with 1,645 Video Detection System cameras, 500 full-color closed-circuit television cameras, its NaviGAtor II and 511 systems, changeable message signs, Navigator website, and smartphone applications – to ensure smooth flow of traffic and speedy, efficient response to traffic incidents.

“GDOT wanted this entire project completed in record time to meet a mission-critical deadline. Activu, with invaluable assistance from Georgia Department of Transportation, Delcan and Mitsubishi were able to successfully revamp GDOT’s TMC by providing a highly reliable display array consisting of nine (3×3) 80" LED illuminated displays and Activu’s network-based intelligent visualization and collaboration solution, resulting in a highly sophisticated command and control center that is fully integrated with GDOT’s digital systems and roadways’ assets.”- Activu CEO, Paul Noble.
