| February 28, 2012 – Telvent GIT, S.A., a leading real-time IT solutions and information provider for a sustainable world, announced today that the company is rolling out its advanced mobility management technology, Telvent SmartMobilityTM Traffic, in the Chinese cities of Beijing, Panjin, Fushun, Nanning, Urumqi, Erdos, Yiqi, Changchung and Zhunki, helping to reduce traffic delays in these urban environments by over 35%. This translates into a reduction in travel times within the cities of up to 15%, improved driver safety and security, and a decrease in pollution levels of more than 10%.
Telvent SmartMobilityTM Traffic technology will enable traffic operators in these cities to centralize urban mobility and violation management, control traffic in real time, and respond more rapidly to any emergency situations or incidents occurring throughout the road network. Increased infrastructure maintenance program efficiency in turn provides enhanced safety and security for users. Cities like Panjin and Beijing, which have managed to improve quality of life for their residents by reducing noise pollution and air pollution due to CO2 and facilitating city pedestrian and motor traffic are examples of metropolises that have already taken the first steps towards the Smart City concept, in which sustainability, respect for the environment, and habitable environments for citizens prevail. Also worthy of special mention is the public transit prioritization project the company is going to execute in the city of Urumqi, thanks to which city authorities will be able to effectively coordinate interaction between the new rapid bus network (BRT) and city traffic, enabling priority to be given at any time deemed to appropriate to public transportation over private transportation. This will lead to a maximum reduction in transit delays and unjustified stoppages, reinforcing the city’s road safety levels. According to Telvent´s Chairman and CEO Ignacio González, , “We take pride in helping a variety of cities in China to create smarter urban environments that are committed to more efficient infrastructure management and citizen mobility in the interests of providing citizens with safer and more sustainable surroundings.” The company has played an active role in China as a technology leader in smart transportation systems since 1990, and has participated with great success in other mobility management-related projects in a variety of China’s cities, including Bayannur, Wuhan, Changchun, Zhengzhou, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Tianjin.
