Major 511 Systems Fare Well in East Coast Earthquake
LogicTree Systems hosted by CenturyLink Remained in Full Operation
Bowie, MD – A common trait shared by the Florida Statewide 511, Los Angeles Regional 511, Alaska Next Generation 511, Wisconsin 511 and South Carolina 511 is that they are all hosted by LogicTree Corporation at the Qwest CyberCenter in Sterling, VA, outside of Washington, DC.
On a per capita basis, Florida’s 511 is the most highly utilized in North America. Together they annually process millions of calls, web and mobile web inquiries, and deliver thousands of proactive outbound alerts to travelers 7x24x365.
These systems were tested on August 23rd, when a 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck the Eastern U.S., causing over $100M in damage and snarling traffic from Georgia to Maine.
CenturyLInk (NYSE: CTL), a leading provider of business-class broadband, data networking and voice services, provides the infrastructure for voice and data services that these 511 systems deliver to travelers in regions served by LogicTree’s voice, web, mobile web and mobile traveler information system applications.
“We have made major investments in providing the most reliable and robust 511 infrastructure in the industry,” said Michael Halley, CEO of LogicTree Corporation. “That paid off today, as all of our customer’s systems operated without disruption.”
