PRESS RELEASE- For Immediate Release

Delcan to Develop First Multi-Modal, Real-Time Decision Support System in the United States

Los Angeles, CA, July 11, 2011 – Delcan, an award winning, multi-disciplinary engineering, management and technology firm, is pleased to announce that they will lead the effort to install a new, one of a kind Integrated Corridor Management (ICM)  system along a 22-mile section of I-15 from SR-52 in San Diego to SR-78 in Escondido.

The I-15 ICM will make use of Delcan’s Intelligent NETworks® product, which will manage multiple modes of transportation and provide a real-time, multimodal Decision Support System (RTMDSS) that will implement and integrate technologies and concepts that have yet to be used in the United States.

This Delcan effort will incorporate the following features from Delcan’s Intelligent NETworks® products:
• Implementation of new traffic prediction tool to forecast traffic conditions before they occur;
• Implementation of a Real-Time Multimodal Decision Support System (RTMDSS) to provide response plans for all traffic modes and facilities, including freeways, arterials, transit, etc.;
• Integration of on-line traffic meso-simulation tools for more intelligent decision evaluations and calculations; and
• 2D and 3D system visualizations.

“We are thrilled to work on this unique project and look forward to continuing to strengthen our long-standing relationship with SANDAG, who along with Delcan, is always at the forefront of innovation,” said Dan Lukasik, Division Vice President of Delcan’s Systems Business and Product Development.

The I-15 ICM system is one of two demonstration sites funded by Stage III of the United States Department of Transportation Integrated Corridor Management Initiative. The I-15 corridor in San Diego serves as the primary artery for San Diego County and once completed the corridor will enhance mobility for motorists, increase the movement of goods, provide better accessibility to services and enhance safety.

The I-15 ICM project is a collaborative effort among the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), the United States Department of Transportation, California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), Federal Highway Administration, Federal Transit Administration, Metropolitan Transit System, North County Transit District, California Highway Patrol and the Cities of San Diego, Poway and Escondido.
