Consortium for ITS Training and Education announces fall "blended" courses
COLLEGE PARK, MD, Oct. 16 - The Consortium for ITS Training
and Education (CITE) announces two new courses for the fall:
"Principles and Tools for Road Weather Management" and
"Introduction to Systems Engineering" will be held Oct. 23 through
Dec. 11 and are great opportunities to build your skills and expand
your knowledge thru blended course offerings.
Principles and Tools for Road Weather Management -
October 23 thru December 11, 2009 - This course provides
transportation professionals in highway maintenance and/or highway
operations with training to develop tools and strategies for
addressing road weather problems. Participants are exposed to
various strategies for addressing road weather problems, including
Road Weather Information Systems (RWIS) and the development of
crosscutting decision support systems to respond effectively to
weather situations. More information can be found online
here.
Introduction to Systems Engineering - October 23 thru
December 11, 2009 - This course is an introduction to
systems engineering for ITS project managers and project staff. The
goal of this course is to allow individuals to understand the
benefits of applying systems engineering approaches as a means of
developing quality systems. The course covers technical practices
such as modeling, prototyping, trade-off analysis and testing, and
management practices such as risk assessment and mitigation, which
make up "best practices" in the systems engineering arena.
If you are interested in taking either of these courses,
please contact Denise Twisdale at 301-403-4592 or Kathy Frankle at
410-414-2925. All course materials are online, but students have
access to course instructors through three pre-scheduled conference
calls.
