URS to Serve as Operator for North Carolina Toll Facility

CHARLOTTE, NC, Jan. 15 - Intelligent Transportation Society of America member URS Corporation has been selected to serve as the back-office toll system operator in support of the North Carolina Turnpike Authority's Triangle Expressway project in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina.
Under the terms of the contract, URS will be responsible for the startup, mobilization and management of the Turnpike Authority's all-electronic toll collection program and will work closely with the Authority to identify the site for the new operations center. When complete, the facility will house Turnpike Authority and URS project administration staff and will include a call center, customer store front, video/violation processing center and other ancillary back-office activities. In addition, URS will operate a state-of-the-art traffic management center. URS' role will include developing and maintaining standard operating procedures, training programs, various project management plans, quality assurance/quality control procedures and reporting tools, as well as the recruiting, hiring and training of staff to ensure delivery of world-class customer service.
