NAVTEQ Signs Contract with Navigation Software Developer, Nav N Go
Hungarian company utilizing NAVTEQ® map data and content in portable, wireless, automotive and enterprise LBS applications
CHICAGO, IL, Jan.15 - Intelligent Transportation Society of
America member NAVTEQ, the
leading global provider of digital map, traffic and location data
for in-vehicle, portable, wireless and enterprise solutions has
reached an agreement with the Hungarian Nav N Go to supply global
map data and content to the white label, navigation software
developer. The NAVTEQ data is to be utilized in a broad range of
LBS applications including Nav N Go's iGO My way navigation
application for iPhone.
Western European, full European and North American versions of
Nav N Go's iGO My way application for iPhone, featuring NAVTEQ
maps, are available from iTunes and App Store. Quarterly map
updates are included in the purchase price until the end of
2010. As all maps are stored on the device, once downloaded, iGO My
way needs only a GPS satellite signal - there are no monthly fees
or hidden data roaming charges.
"In addition to mapping data, Nav N Go has already shown
particular interest in using content such as speed limits, 3D City
Models, extended lanes and voice phonemes in future projects,"
explained Serge Bussat, NAVTEQ vice president Consumer &
Wireless Sales Europe. "It is a dynamic and innovative company
working across all our business sectors and I would expect many
notable developments as a result of our collaboration."
Having established itself in portable navigation, Nav N Go has
rapidly expanded into the wireless, automotive and enterprise
markets which mirror NAVTEQ's own areas of expertise. For example,
Nav N Go's reputation in the automotive sector has been established
following several significant deals with major brands - here
working with tier one suppliers. The company has also just
developed its first product for the fleet business using NAVTEQ
Transport™ data and, in the wireless space, is already
dealing with a major handset manufacturer on the Android platform -
as well as being live in the iPhone App Store.
Commenting on the new contract with NAVTEQ, Jim Nardulli, Nav
N Go senior vice president of Sales, said, "We believe in the adage
'you are as good as the company you keep' and, as a smaller,
hyper-innovative company, we want to align ourselves with the gold
standard in the industry. NAVTEQ defines the global standard in map
data."
Nav N Go software is modular and platform agnostic and the
company's entire range of services and products can operate on
eight major systems including WindowsCE, QNX, Linux, iPhone and
Android.
