Iteris and Meritor WABCO Partner to Expand Driver Performance Reporting Capabilities using SafetyDirect™ Software
Strategic Alliance Opens SafetyDirect to Meritor WABCO's Trucking Fleet Customers
Santa Ana, Calif. - April 13, 2010 - Iteris, Inc.
(NYSE Amex: ITI), a leader in the traffic management market that
focuses on the application and development of advanced
technologies, today announced a strategic partnership with Meritor
WABCO Vehicle Control Systems in Troy, MI, to allow information
captured by Meritor WABCO's SmartTrac and OnGuard active safety
systems to be available through Iteris' SafetyDirect driver
performance reporting software.
Meritor WABCO fleet customers can now use SafetyDirect as a single point of access to monitor and synchronize driver performance data on braking, stability control, following distances, and lane-departure warnings for individual drivers as well as the entire fleet. SafetyDirect uses information transmitted from the vehicle by the fleet's onboard mobile communications system via leading telematic providers such as Qualcomm and PeopleNet, to provide fleet operators with a comprehensive view of the entire fleet, as well as the ability to drill down to detailed information on individual drivers and events. With SafetyDirect, fleet managers can identify risky driver behavior and provide drivers with the training that the fleet managers deem appropriate to reinforce safe driving practices.
"I am delighted to partner with an industry leader such as Meritor WABCO. This alliance is a testament to the industry's validation of our SafetyDirect driver performance reporting system." said Mr. Abbas Mohaddes, president and chief executive officer of Iteris. "Iteris plans to expand market share through not only product development, but also through strategic alliances. With increased political and industry focus on improving driver safety, I believe this partnership will greatly expand our safety offering to a broader segment of the commercial truck market."
"Iteris' SafetyDirect is a perfect complement to Meritor WABCO safety and control systems for commercial vehicles," stated Jon Morrison, president of Meritor WABCO. "Integrating data from Meritor WABCO's SmartTrac and OnGuard active safety systems into Iteris' SafetyDirect and lane-departure warning systems, allows us to provide a more comprehensive safety offering to our customers."
