LOS ANGELES, CA - The Southern California Transit Training Consortium (SCRTTC) conducted its Annual Board of Directors meeting May 19, 2010 which was hosted at Orange County Transportation Authority's (OCTA) new Santa Ana, CA facility. A resolution was submitted by the Organizational Committee to increase the SCRTTC Board to twelve (12) members.

With that resolution approved by the SCRTTC Board, nominations were put forth for two (2) new members; Mike Bonacio of San Bernardino's Omnitrans and Tommy Edwards of SunLine Transit Agency in Thousand Palms, CA; both Omnitrans and SunLine Transit Agency are founding members of the SCRTTC.

Bonacio, with Omnitrans for over 20 years, started as an Equipment Mechanic, promoted to Shift Supervisor prior to his present position as Omnitrans' Technical Services Manager. In his current position he serves as: Training Manager, Project Manager for maintenance projects, and composes the scope of work for RFPS for bus and equipment purchases just to name a few. "I am looking forward to being part of the continuation of the organization in these tough times, and assist in carrying Jim Ditch's legacy into the future," Bonacio commented after accepting the SCRTTC Board's nomination and election.

Edwards, SunLine Transit Agency's Director of Maintenance, came to SunLine 19 years ago as a Mechanic and then Maintenance Shop Supervisor, and began his teaching career as the Maintenance Trainer. He continued his education by gaining certification on CNG Vehicle Maintenance, and CNG Compressor Training on Knox/Western, Sulzer, and Fuelmaker. Another title held was Special Projects Supervisor. Mr. Edwards has served as Director of Maintenance for the last 7 years. His areas of responsibility includes vehicle maintenance and as such, encompasses maintenance and repair of over 135 alternate fueled revenue and support vehicles, including CNG, and hydrogen equipment. Edwards has played a key role in SunLine's goal 'To continue the advancement of innovative transportation and alternative fuel technologies.'
