The Outstanding State Chapter Award has been the most prestigious award given by ITS America to a State Chapter for the development of superb programming, fostering the highest qualities of leadership among members, advocating ITS at the state and regional levels, and providing superb value to membership. ITS America's Board of Directors and State Chapters Council recognizes the accomplishments of its top chapters each year during a special ceremony at the ITS America Annual Meeting & Exhibition. Starting in 2011, awards have been given for Outstanding State Chapter and Membership Growth. Winners from previous years are listed below.

- Chapters must submit a completed application to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by March 23 to be considered for recognition at the 2012 Annual Meeting in Washington, DC
- 3 Divisions of Chapters (see below, based on membership size and general activity) with the two awards to be issued in each Division. (If there are insufficient entries in any of the Divisions and awards categories, ITS America and its SCC selected judges reserve the right to not issue an award.)
- The Outstanding State Chapter Award employs the same criteria as in the past, but requests less documentation to review
- The State Chapter Membership Growth Award highlights chapters successful at increasing their membership from year to year

- Division 2 (9): Arizona, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Midwest, Pennsylvania, Rocky Mountain, Tennessee, Virginia
- Division 3 (9): Alaska, Nevada, New Mexico, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, West Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin
